Last year’s Made in RVA exhibit was so well-received that we were eager to host the show once again. Our involvement in the international design community gives us great appreciation for the artists we have right here in Richmond. We can think of no finer way to share this love of handcrafted art and design than hosting a show of our own! The Made in RVA – Take 2 exhibit running from November 18th – December 11th showcased work from 14 local artists and artisans who not only sold pieces on display but also were conjuring up custom pieces with eager patrons.
The exhibit kicked off with a bang on December 11th at the Opening Reception in our recently renovated outdoor gallery. The early 20th century building complete with vaulted ceilings and exposed beams provided the perfect Made In RVA show ambiance. The wine was flowing, the cheese was plentiful, and despite the chilly weather, the atmosphere was warm. The works ranged in materials from ceramics, glass, and metals, to a stunning geometric wood piece from Hiroshi Awano.
The final day of the show featured a special Trunk Show & Pop-Up Shop with three wonderfully talented visiting jewelers: Elaine Butler, Jessicka Cantilo, and Anna Lawryniuk – all graduates of VCU! Their stunning work along with a wide selection of goods from Made in RVA artists served as the perfect holiday shopping experience. PS – we’re offering free gift wrapping on all holiday season long!
We at LaDiff would like to extend a most heartfelt “thank you” to all who came to see these gorgeous designs, those who helped organize the event, and the artisans themselves. See a list of all contributing artists and take a peek at our gallery of photos below. Until next time RVA!
